Bringing Leaders in Manufacturing Together

The Generis American Manufacturing Summit
Written by Robert Hoshowsky

The must-attend event of the year, the Generis American Manufacturing Summit (AMS) connects senior-level executives within the manufacturing industry. To be held at Chicago’s Westin Lombard Yorktown Center from March 26 to 27, attendees at the AMS represent strategy and technology leaders responsible for solving top challenges facing the industry today.

“The American Manufacturing Summit provides a platform for senior manufacturing executives to exchange ideas, communicate, educate and cooperate,” states Generis of the Summit, which is projected to receive 250 attendees this year. “Understanding the importance of manufacturing to the North American market, the American Manufacturing Summit allows executives to network and knowledge share with like-minded executives who share similar challenges. Our goal is to ensure that the executives who attend our meeting walk away with several key implementable ideas that can help increase profit and improve internal efficiency. Through our networking opportunities, enlightening thought leadership sessions, and focus on technology evaluation, we hope to bring executives to the right solution for their challenges in a fraction of the time.”

The Summit will bring together cross-industry leaders from diverse sectors including Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Pharmaceuticals, Automotive, Aerospace and Defense, Healthcare, Food and Beverage, Medical Devices and others, and the majority of AMS attendees and exhibitors come from throughout the United States and Canada. International attendees and sponsors have also joined the Summit from Mexico, Germany, Singapore, New Zealand, and other countries.

Manufacturing industry pros
Attendees who have attended in the past, or who will be attending the 2019 American Manufacturing Summit, represent top companies in their fields. These include the Vice President of Supply Chain Operations, NE Region for The Coca-Cola Company; the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at Fender Musical Instruments; the Lean Manager – The Boeing Co.; the Vice President of U.S. Manufacturing for Walmart; and global directors, general managers, plant managers, and directors for some of the world’s largest corporations.

Attendance to the AMS is reserved for leading executives and practitioners from the manufacturing industry. Additionally, “participating sponsors are selected based on their relevance to our senior attendee audience as well as the level of innovation offered by their products and services,” states Generis, whose sponsors include well-known entities such as Microsoft, IBM, Infosys, and The Productivity Team (TPT).

Strong networking opportunities
Like the manufacturing industry itself, the American Manufacturing Summit continues to grow and evolve, and year after year, Generis ensures its program, exhibitors, and presentations reflect current trends and challenges affecting the manufacturing industry. Striving to provide an unparalleled networking experience, “We provide manufacturers and solution providers with an exclusive networking platform,” states Generis. “Our innovative presentations, streamlined networking forums, and needs-based meetings enhance the way companies in the manufacturing industry do business.”

Offering a range of formal and informal networking opportunities for sponsors and attendees, this year’s Summit will include breaks, meetings, dinners and more. These include the Pre-Summit Happy Hour and Day 1 Cocktail Reception. An informal gathering of Summit sponsors, speakers, and attendees, this brings together industry leaders and decision makers for one hour of introductory networking and socializing. At the end of Day 1, an open-bar drinks reception allows attendees to further develop contacts they established during the day.

Along with the Pre-Summit Happy Hour and Day 1 Cocktail Reception, attendees can enjoy Networking Breaks, which – much like the Pre-Summit Happy Hour – allow top industry experts to network and socialize in an informal setting, with drinks provided. Pre-Scheduled 1-2-1 Meetings enable Summit attendees to meet with leading manufacturing solution providers in a dedicated area. “These informal meetings provide attendees with the opportunity to develop meaningful contacts and bring back the new business they came for,” says Generis. Additionally, Private Dinner Invitations allow top suppliers to host between 15 and 20 key attendees for an evening of dinner and conversation in an exclusive setting.

A range of topics
Immediately following registration and the Chair’s opening remarks on the morning of March 25, Generis will focus on three streams at this year’s AMS: process optimization, people, and innovation. 2019’s event features keynote speakers – “a strategic selection of only the most esteemed leaders within their respective area of expertise” – who will be addressing the most pressing issues facing the future of the industry. The wide range of topics to be covered by speakers includes talent acquisition, automation and lean manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and much more.

One of the most important issues today is the important role women play in the workforce. Despite accounting for almost half of the American working population, women still remain underrepresented in the manufacturing industry, accounting for just 29 percent of the workforce as of 2016. This year, the American Manufacturing Summit addresses this pressing issue through its Women in Leadership Roundtable. Led by inspirational female leaders specializing in manufacturing, operations, engineering, and supply chain, this year’s Roundtable will feature top executives from major household goods manufacturer Church & Dwight, retail pharmacy giant CVS Health, General Motors Company, and Applied Sciences Group.

Taking place over both days of the Summit, detailed hour-long Lunch & Learn Roundtables and Breakfast Briefs enable industry experts to lead topical discussions with an exclusive group of industry participants on the topic of their choosing. “They not only allow for an excellent channel to share knowledge and ideas, but also create critical awareness for industry issues and provide an opportunity to directly address an audience of senior-level manufacturing executives actively seeking solutions for their most pressing issues,” states Generis.

Generis is the producer and creator of the American Manufacturing Summit. Promoting its Summits digitally to ensure qualified attendees and sponsors not already registered or in the existing network can join the discussion, Generis draws on the expertise of its extensive network of industry leaders to build informative and innovative summits for C-suite executives.

“Our experience spans over two decades of successfully developing and delivering high-quality business-to-business events and services across various industries,” states the company. “Generis was formed with the vision of redefining the way in which knowledge transfer and face-to-face interactions take place. We see an opportunity to enhance the partnership experience through our understanding of how executives and professionals create and sustain successful relationships. Our commitment to delivering world-class content and connecting business ideas with relationship opportunities is the Generis experience.”

The Summit will be held in Chicago this year and again in 2020, and the major metropolis has proven itself to be an ideal location for the American Manufacturing Summit. Strong in many areas of manufacturing, Chicago has a diverse, talented workforce of nearly half a million people, exports of $71.5 billion, and a central geographic location with convenient access to all major modes of transportation. “This convergence of talent, innovation, and market access makes Chicago a natural choice for our American Manufacturing Summit,” says Generis.

Receiving praise from attendees, speakers and sponsors alike, 2018’s Summit was well-planned, well-executed, and “One of the best conferences/summits I have attended,” according to Michael Goluszka, Vice President, Manufacturing, LA-CO Industries Inc. Jorge Rodriguez, Vice President, Manufacturing, JL Audio, stated that, “This summit was very enlightening. It has provided me with tools and techniques to take immediate and massive disruptive action to drive rapid continuous improvements throughout the entire organization.”

Already hard at work on the 2020 Summit, the team at Generis looks forward to the future of this popular event as it continues to attract more and more attendees from across the U.S., Canada, and around the world. “As the manufacturing industry grows and changes, so does the American Manufacturing Summit. Each year, we provide the latest and most topical industry insights relevant to our attending audience.”
